EaseMyTrip.com said on Tuesday that it has signed a Letter of Intent to join with the Open Network for Digital Commerce. The online travel platform signed the LoI at the 'ONDC Startup Mahotsav', organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade in New Delhi, according to a media statement to the exchanges.
ONDC is an initiative by the government, which started in 2021. It aims to make an open, inclusive, and competitive digital commerce ecosystem. It also helps provide an equal opportunity to all the players in the e- commerce sector.
The main role of EaseMyTrip is to improve the travel experience of the customers according to Rikant Pittie, co-founder of EaseMyTrip. The move will help support the digital transformation of commerce in India, he said in a statement. "This collaboration aligns with our vision of being a nation-first company, contributing to the growth and development of India’s digital economy.”
EaseMyTrip is one of India’s largest online travel platforms, in terms of air ticket bookings, according to Crisil's Report Assessment of the OTA Industry in India, 2021.
Shares of Easy Trip Planners were down 2.77% at Rs 44.25 apiece, as compared with a 0.09% fall in the benchmark BSE Sensex.
