Billionaire Gautam Adani praised the efforts at innovation undertaken by Adani Defence & Aerospace after his visit to the ammunitions and missile manufacturing complex in Kanpur according to a tweet on 'X' (formerly known as Twitter).
He underscored the company's goal to push boundaries and aid the country in self reliance in the defence sector.
"Just visited Adani Defence & Aerospace in Kanpur! Inspired to witness the incredible innovation and the rock solid commitment to India’s self-reliance in defence by the Adani team. Best of #AtmanirbharBharat in action! Our aim is to keep pushing boundaries to help build a stronger, self-reliant India!" Adani wrote in his post.
This statement follows similar remarks made by Ashish Rajvanshi, the chief executive officer of Adani Defence & Aerospace on Feb. 11, where he said that the company's expansion to six locations in six years highlighted their contributions to self reliance in defence. He also predicted that India's domestic defence market is poised to be worth $300 billion.
The firm had also invested Rs 5,000 crore into its six existing facilities, with Rs 8,000 crore infused for future development.
The company also launched a Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025 on the same day in partnership with the Defence Research and Development Organisation. This was India's first such system developed via the public-private partnership model.
The system was developed under DRDO’s Transfer of Technology framework, and was made to address the increasing threat of drones in modern warfare. Recognising the rising use of drones for reconnaissance and offensive operations, the system is meant to provide a countermeasure through long-range protection, agility, and precision.
It is equipped with advanced sensor capabilities for automatic detection, classification, and neutralisation of drones. The integrated system is mounted on a single 4x4 vehicle, to ensure high mobility and operational flexibility.
