Mahakumbh Girl Monalisa Bhosle Marries Boyfriend Farman Khan In Kerala Temple Amid Police Security

Social media sensation Monalisa Bhosle, who became widely known after a video from the Mahakumbh Mela went viral, has married her boyfriend, Farman Khan, in an interfaith ceremony in Kerala. The couple tied the knot at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Poovar, near Thiruvananthapuram, on March 11. They had reportedly approached the police a day earlier seeking protection amid opposition from her family.

Monalisa, an 18-year-old from Indore, rose to fame during the Mahakumbh Mela when a clip of her selling rudraksha beads and garlands at the fair spread rapidly on social media. Her distinctive amber eyes and bright smile caught people's attention, and she soon became a social media sensation, popularly known online as the “Kumbh mela girl.”

Reports say Monalisa and Farman, who is from Maharashtra, met through Facebook about a year ago. Their friendship later turned into a relationship. However, their romance allegedly faced strong opposition from Monalisa's family due to their different religious backgrounds.

According to the couple, Monalisa's father, Jai Singh Bhosle, wanted her to marry a relative chosen by the family. Monalisa reportedly refused the proposal and decided to continue her relationship with Farman.

The situation escalated when Monalisa was in Kerala for the shoot of her Malayalam debut film 'Nagamma', which is being filmed near Thiruvananthapuram. She alleged her father located her and tried to take her back home against her will. Following the incident, the couple went to the Thampanoor police station and requested police protection.

After speaking with both sides, police confirmed Monalisa is an adult and has the legal right to decide whom she wants to live with or marry. Station house officer Jijukumar said Monalisa told the police her family was trying to force her into another marriage, which she did not want.

Once the matter was clarified, the couple left the police station and proceeded with their wedding at the temple. Monalisa wore a red saree with sindoor for the ceremony, while Farman dressed in a white shirt and traditional mundu.

Several political leaders attended the wedding to show support for the couple. Among them were Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty, CPI(M) state secretary M. V. Govindan, and Rajya Sabha MP A. A. Rahim.

Meanwhile, Monalisa is preparing for her upcoming projects, including the Hindi film 'The Diary of Manipur', while remaining active on social media and collaborating with brands.
