Several flights were delayed, cancelled or diverted at Cochin International Airport late Monday night after the closure of Qatar's airspace amid the rising tensions in West Asia, news agency PTI reported.
An Air India Express flight that departed at 6.53 pm was diverted to Muscat. Air India's Doha-bound flight, scheduled to leave at 12.53 am Tuesday, was cancelled. A Qatar Airways flight due to arrive in Cochin at 2.53 am has been delayed, affecting its return leg as well, according to an airport spokesperson.
An Air Arabia flight from Cochin to Abu Dhabi has also been delayed. An Etihad flight from Cochin to Abu Dhabi is returning to the airport, the official added.

Air India has ceased all operations to the Middle East region until further notice. Flights to and from the East Coast of North America and Europe have also been suspended immediately, an Air India spokesperson said.
India-bound flights from North America are diverting back to their original departure points. Other flights are being diverted to India or rerouted away from closed airspaces.
Passengers affected by these disruptions are asked for understanding, as the situation is beyond the airline’s control. Air India is consulting with external security advisors and monitoring the evolving situation closely.
Updates will be provided to passengers as available. The safety and security of passengers and staff remain Air India’s top priority, the spokesperson added.
