Billionaire Elon Musk claimed on Thursday that Donald Trump is in the Epstein files amid a spiralling feud between the Tesla boss and the US president.
"Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files," Musk posted on X. "That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!"
"Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out," he added.
The so-called Epstein files refer to an alleged list of well-known public figures linked with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who had allegedly procured underage girls for sex with those people. Epstein had committed suicide in 2019 in a prison after he was arrested on sex-trafficking charges.
The exchanges were triggered after Trump's comments on Musk's criticism over a contentious budget plan that has been passed by the US House of Representatives and now heads to the Senate. The Tesla stock became a casualty in the fire as it plunged during New York trading hours.
The duo's political alliance began last year when Musk endorsed Trump for the 2024 presidential election and campaigned aggressively for the Republican candidate. Trump later appointed Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency to implement reforms.
Last Friday, Trump held a presser to mark the exit of Musk from DOGE. The president had thanked Musk, who has announced his exit from the administration, adding that the chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. and SpaceX delivered a "colossal change" in the old ways of doing business in Washington.
