Your Facebook Live Videos Being Deleted! Do This Before It's Too Late, Here Is How

In a big concern for users, Facebook has updated its live video storage policy. Beginning Feb. 19, any new live broadcast videos can be replayed, downloaded or shared from a user’s Facebook Pages or profiles for 30 days. After that, the videos will automatically be removed from Facebook. These videos were earlier stored indefinitely. 

Users will no longer be able to access any live videos that are more than 30 days old as part of this transition. The deletion will happen in phases over the next few months, and Facebook will offer users tools to download their old live videos before they are eventually erased.

Users will be notified prior to the deletion of archival live videos. After users receive their old live content, they will have 90 days to decide whether to convert it to a new reel, download it to device, or move it to cloud storage.

Single Download

• Download an individual Facebook live video from your profile, Page or Meta Business Suite. 

• On a profile or on a Page, find the Videos tab. On a Page, if you’re on web, find the Live tab. Click More to see the Live tab.

• Select the video you wish to download.

• Open the full screen view, then click […] and select “Download video.”

• You can also download one or more live videos from your Page or profile’s Activity Log. To download your live videos, select “Your live videos,” then choose a date range to see videos available to download.

Bulk Download

• On your computer or device, tap the notification to enter into the download flow.

• Tap “Download live videos.”

• Decide the location (computer or device) to download to and the date range for the live videos.

• Tap “Create File.”

Transfer Live Videos

• On your computer or phone, tap the notification to enter into the download flow.

• Tap “Transfer live videos.”

• Tap “Where” to select the transfer destination.

• Choose your linked cloud storage provider (e.g., Dropbox or Google Drive).

• Tap “Save.”

Shorter clips from live videos can be shared as reels on Facebook, offering friends and family a place to watch your profile and allowing you to preserve your favourite moments for longer than 30 days.

If you need more time to download your old live videos, you can choose to defer deletion for an additional six months. Here’s how:

• On your computer or device, tap the notification to enter into the download flow.

• Tap “Learn More.”

• Tap “postpone the deletion.”

• Tap “Postpone” to confirm.
