Samsung may soon offer Galaxy S25 Ultra users an early look at its next major software update. A report in Gizmochina states that a tipster tracking Samsung’s server activity has spotted a beta version of One UI 8 online. This suggests a mid-June 2025 launch for public testers.
The new software is built on Android 16 and marks the next evolution of Samsung’s user interface.
The Galaxy S25 series was launched with One UI 7 (based on Android 15) earlier this year. But it appears the company is already preparing to roll out a major update less than six months after its flagship launch. The spotted beta build — identified as version S938BXXU3ZYEA — hints at a better user experience, the Gizmochina report added.
UI Changes And Performance Improvements
While One UI 8 is not expected to bring a dramatic design overhaul, leaked images suggest small but meaningful improvements. These include more transparent menu pop-ups and fresh wallpaper colour palettes. Samsung also seems to be refining system animations to make transitions smoother and more natural.
Early testers may also notice a more streamlined Quick Share interface and improvements to Samsung DeX, the brand’s desktop-like Android experience. Notably, the Secure Folder feature will adopt Android’s new private space API, promising tighter privacy controls.
Galaxy Foldables To Debut With One UI 8?
Samsung's upcoming foldable devices — the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 — are expected to ship with One UI 8 right out of the box when they launch in July. This would be the first time Samsung’s foldables get a new UI version ahead of the wider Galaxy lineup.
With the foldables acting as a launchpad, it’s likely that a stable version of One UI 8 will arrive for other flagship models by August or September 2025, depending on feedback from beta testers.
Incremental Or Impressive?
Despite its version number jump, some observers argue that One UI 8 is more of a polished update than a revolutionary one. Comparisons to a hypothetical “One UI 7.1” are already circulating online. Rumours of One UI 8.5 tied to the Galaxy S26 series further suggest that Samsung is sticking to an aggressive update cycle.
Whether these refinements will impress users and tech enthusiasts remains to be seen.
