Are you aware of all the recent WhatsApp changes and updates? The messaging platform has rolled out features recently to make your conversations and calls more enjoyable and improve your Channels experience. Here’s a look.

Chats

‘Online’ Indicator In Group Chats: You can now view the number of people who are “Online” in real-time, directly beneath the group name, to help you determine whether anyone is available to chat.

Highlight Notifications In Groups: Wish to prioritise your group chat notifications? You can use the ‘Notify for’ setting and choose ‘Highlights’ to limit alerts for @mentions, replies, and messages from saved contacts. Alternatively, choose ‘All’ to receive all notifications.

Events Updates: You can now create an event in a one-on-one conversation in addition to creating events in groups. Additionally, you may now RSVP with ‘maybe,’ invite a guest, specify the event’s finish time and date for longer events, and pin the event in a chat.

Tappable Reactions: There are moments when you simply want to agree with what someone else stated. You may now easily see the reactions of others and tap the one you wish to send.

Document Scanning On iPhone: To scan, crop, and save a document on your iPhone, just choose ‘Scan document’ from the attachment tray and follow the instructions.

Default App For iPhone: You can now make WhatsApp your iPhone’s default messaging and calling app with the most recent iOS upgrade. Just choose WhatsApp under Settings > Default Apps to make the change.

Calls

Pinch To Zoom In Video Calls: During a video call, iPhone users can now pinch to zoom in on a video to see their own or a peer’s footage up close.

Add To Call From Chat: By touching the call icon and choosing ‘Add to call,’ you can add someone to an ongoing one-on-one call straight from a chat thread.

Smoother Video Calls: WhatsApp’s optimised routing mechanism minimises dropped calls and video freezes by determining the optimal connection path. Additionally, your video is quickly upgraded to HD resolution for a better experience thanks to the improved bandwidth detection.

Updates

Video Notes For Channels: Channel administrators can now instantaneously record and share brief videos (60 seconds or less) with followers, much like they can with chats.

Voice Message Transcripts On Channels: When you are on the go and unable to listen to audio message updates, channels can now provide you with a written synopsis with the transcripts feature.

QR Codes: Channel administrators can post a special QR code that takes users straight to their channel, helping to expand their following.
