The Mobile World Congress (MWC), underway in Barcelona, Spain, has witnessed several ground-breaking innovations from the leading smartphone manufacturers worldwide. However, the latest product from GlocalMe has created a buzz in the tech world. GlocalMe has launched a first-of-its-kind device called “PetPhone”, designed to enhance communication between pet owners and their cats or dogs.

Unlike typical smartphones, the “first smartphone for pets” is attached to a strap which can be put around the pet’s neck like a collar. Besides enabling two-way communication, it is also equipped with a health monitoring feature that allows owners to keep track of their pet’s wellbeing.

When the PetPhone is activated, it will immediately pick any sound of the pet and decode it. Just like human beings, animals have different tones for every emotion. All pet owners, however, are not able to comprehend them. As the live call feature uses artificial intelligence (AI), it will be activated when the pet exhibits certain gestures.

This device by GlocalMe will let pet parents understand if their pets are upset, hungry, in trouble, or facing any other difficulties. Pet owners will also be able to talk back to their cats and dogs through the device. The feature has been named PawTalk and incorporates sound play features.

Marketed as the "first smartphone designed specifically for pets”, the GlocalMe product offers some other interesting features like activity tracking and AI-driven alerts. PawTrack integrates several tracking technologies– GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth– so that owners can easily track their pet’s movements and locate them with just a click.

Thanks to the geofencing feature, the PetPhone automatically sends notifications if the pet somehow goes beyond its safe zone. The device is also equipped with an inbuilt light that can help in finding pets in the dark. The ringtone feature is also there to warn pet owners with a sound.

Using the PetPhone, owners can also enrol their pets in a dedicated social community. Separated profiles can be created for each animal and their memorable moments can be shared with fellow owners. The device also offers a feature of customisable reminders that will help in maintaining the pet’s daily routines, including feeding and exercise schedules.

Pet parents can also join a dedicated social community, allowing them to share memorable moments, create pet profiles with health information, track service plans and manage device settings. Additionally, the system includes customisable reminders to help owners maintain their pet’s daily routines, including feeding and exercise schedules.
