Meta has launched its quirky and popular “Imagine Me” feature in India. The feature, which uses generative artificial intelligence to create personalised images, is being rolled out to Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp chats in India.
Meta had in July 2024 introduced the Imagine Me feature for WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger applications. However, it was made available only in a few countries, including the US and Europe. Now, it has arrived in India.
Imagine Me employs facial recognition and personalisation algorithms to produce images based on user-provided prompts. For instance, if you give a prompt “Imagine me as a 60s’ guitarist”, the feature will create an image of you styled like a 60s’ guitar player probably performing on stage.
Similarly, if you wish to see yourself as a comic book hero, simply type “Imagine me as a comic book hero”, and voila, your new avatar is ready to be shared on social.
How To Use Meta’s ‘Imagine Me’?
To utilise the feature, you can go to Instagram messages, Messenger or WhatsApp and initiate a conversation with @Meta AI in either personal or group chats and then begin with the “Imagine me as...” prompt. If you are new to the experience, you might need to provide some photos to assist Meta AI in creating accurate depictions in different avatars.
After uploading, clicking Generate produces an AI-generated image reflecting the user’s likeness along with the given prompt. Users also have the option to type “Imagine me” followed by a situation, idea, or style — like “in a Renaissance painting,” “on the moon,” or “dressed in futuristic fashion.”
“Meta AI uses the uploaded images to understand the user’s facial features and generate personalized results within moments. These photos can be updated or deleted at any time in Meta AI settings. Users can also manage their preferences, retake photos, or turn off the feature as needed,” the company said in a media release.
