The iPhone 16 is a powerful smartphone and the chip that it is blessed with by Apple is nothing to be sneezed at. Arguably, it was one of the most-powerful, if not the most powerful, chipsets around at the time of launch. However, much as you may be pleased with the iPhone 16, there are certain things that would be making you frown. For instance, you may have been finding yourself increasingly looking for your charger at least twice a day. Yes, iPhone 16 battery may not be lasting you through the day, leaving you scratching your head and ensuring you pack the charger, or at least, its charging cable and taking it wherever you go.

Not the best experience, considering iPhone 16 is a new-age smartphone and therefore, Apple should have ensured that it did not suck the life out of its battery too soon in the day (by lunch-time?).
While all other things are mostly equal for most users, as far as battery use is concerned, for example use of various apps, or even gaming, but one thing that will really be resource exhaustive, is Apple Intelligence. It is a fuel guzzler. While the chipset was expected to try and save the battery charge under all circumstances, AI is proving a bit much. Should you switch it off? It is not that easy a decision to make.
Now Apple Intelligence has had several hiccups, but it is something that most people have been taking for granted nowadays. Yes, it has almost become universally used, whether it is for professional purposes, private or even entertainment. So, considering its utility, will anyone dare to switch it off to save battery and make the smartphone stay alive till the end of the day without charging?
A tough choice. The solution is to lug the charger, its wire, or a power bank around, or switch off AI. For those who are barely using it, or not, using AI at all, it is a no-brainer and they should switch it off ASAP.
Do note that in case you downloaded iOS 18.3 update, then AI is enabled by default.
For the others, it will have to be based on needs. So, in case you are brave enough, or can afford to switch off AI, here is how to do it - there is certainly no harm in trying it out for a while and see how it goes: Go to Settings and Apple Intelligence and Siri and do the needful.
Among other battery saving things you can do are keeping the screen in less bright mode, or better still, use dark mode. You can also explore Settings/Battery feature to know what is eating up resources on your iPhone. It could well be some app working in the background that has escaped your attention.
Do know that by optimising your iPhone 16 battery, not only will you get through the day without worrying about running out of juice, you will also make sure it lasts for years without coming to the end of its life in an abrupt manner.
