Honor is said to be working on a new smartphone that could feature a massive 10,000mAh battery, according to tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS). The news was shared on Weibo, where DCS also confirmed the device’s battery size, sparking speculation about the upcoming model, tentatively referred to as the Honor D8500.
As reported by Android Authority, a 10,000mAh battery would double the capacity of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (5,000mAh) and surpass the battery of some tablets, such as the Pixel Tablet (7,020mAh) and Galaxy Tab S10 FE (8,000mAh). Such a battery would likely provide at least three days of typical use.
Honor’s previous model, the Honor Power, had an 8,000mAh battery while maintaining a slim profile at 7.98mm and weighing 209 grams. This shows the company can offer high-capacity batteries without making the phone too bulky, Android Authority reported.
DCS stated that the upcoming device is powered by MediaTek’s next-generation Dimensity 8500 processor and has reached the New Product Introduction (NPI) verification phase. As reported by Gizmo China, the phone entered the NPI stage in the last week of July and is steadily progressing toward launch. Details about the final product name remain unknown.
The Dimensity 8500, built on a 4nm process by TSMC, retains the CPU architecture of its predecessor, the Dimensity 8400, while its Mali-G720 GPU is expected to improve gaming performance. Gizmo China reports that the chipset is projected to exceed two million points on AnTuTu benchmarks.
Other brands are also preparing phones powered by the Dimensity 8500. According to Gizmo China, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be the first device to launch with the D8500 SoC. Gizmo China suggests that Honor’s Dimensity 8500 phone may arrive in China shortly afterwards, maybe in December 2025 or in early 2026.
At present, only the battery capacity and chipset details of the Honor D8500 are confirmed. Fans and industry watchers are awaiting further leaks that may reveal additional specifications and features.
