There's good news if you've been eying a Pixel phone lately. Google’s latest Pixel 9a is finally arriving in India and is quite a head turner for all the right reasons!
The Pixel 9a gets a lot of what the Pixel 9 brings to the table, but it's going to be lighter on your wallet. The price gap is massive at Rs 25,000 (Rs 49,999 for the 9a vs Rs 74,999 for the 9), so the obvious question is — what are you really giving up?
Same Power, Lower Price
So let’s start with what’s not different. The Pixel 9a and 9 both have a 6.3-inch OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and Google’s latest Tensor G4 processor. So we can say that the performance and screen quality are quite identical.
When it comes to battery life, the 9a actually wins with a larger 5,100mAh instead of the Pixel 9’s 4,700mAh. No charger in the box for either, though.
Looks And Build: Minor Trade-Offs
The Pixel 9 does have a more premium build — glass front and back, aluminium frame. The Pixel 9a has the same frame, but its back is plastic and its front is Gorilla Glass 3. But it’s still pretty sturdy, and even feels a little lighter in the hand.
Both of them are IP68 rated, which means they do not mind a little water or dust.
Cameras: Close, But Not Same
Photography fans will note a small difference. The 9a has a 48MP main sensor, while the Pixel 9 steps it up to 50MP. The ultrawide camera on the 9a is a little downgraded, but it can handle some casual wide-angle shots just fine.
At nearly Rs 25,000 less, the Pixel 9a brings flagship features for a mid-range price. The 9a could be the smarter choice for those who want the Pixel experience without spending their top rupee.
