Data Privacy Day 2025 is marked on Jan. 28, providing a reminder for everyone to protect their personal and professional data from being stolen. From banking to personal photos, our devices are like our daily diary and hold many secrets that should never be seen by anybody else. If you are an Apple user, you can enjoy these five features to help you keep your data safe.
1. Contacts: Share Only What’s Necessary
If you are not comfortable sharing your entire contact list with any app, this feature is just for you. Locked and hidden apps give users peace of mind that others won’t inadvertently see something unintended. With iOS 18, you can choose which contacts to share. You are the king when it comes to controlling what you want to disclose.
2. Keep Your Email Private
If you don't like putting your email on different apps and websites, then the Hide My Email feature is what you’ll love. This feature lets you create random and unique email addresses for apps, websites, or newsletters, which will in turn help you keep your personal email private.
3. Private Browsing Made Safer
If you are not a fan of having your browsing history in front of your eyes while you surf the internet, Safari’s Private Browsing mode is a blessing. The mode locks automatically, which means that your searches, browsing history, and even the auto-fill details remain private.
4. Hide Your Apps
Want to keep some apps out of sight? You can easily lock or hide your apps on your Apple device. This feature is especially useful when you hand over your phone to someone or are sharing your screen, no one accidentally stumbles upon something private.
5. Block Trackers On Links
Some websites, very sneakily, add tracking info to links that you click. Apple’s Link Tracking Protection removes these trackers from the links you receive via Messages, Mail, and Safari’s Private Browsing mode.
