The upcoming Apple iPhone SE 4 will likely be the most affordable iPhone yet. It is expected to be launched priced at around Rs 49,900 - under $500, as per Bloomberg columnist, Mark Gurman. Surprisingly, this new iPhone SE 4 is expected to support Apple Intelligence - something the pricier iPhone 15 won't. So, when it comes to iPhone SE 4 vs iPhone 15, which one should you really choose?
Design & Display
iPhone SE 4 is expected to a 6.1-inch display and a similar design to iPhone 15. So, what's the main difference? The SE 4 may come with flat edges (like the iPhone 14), a single rear camera. The Dynamic Island, which is present on iPhone 15, may elude the iPhone SE 4 even though there are some conflicting reports. iPhone SE 4 will have USB-C port and not the older Lightning support.
Performance & AI Features
As per rumours, The iPhone SE 4 may have a faster A18 chip, that is on the iPhone 16, while the iPhone 15 runs on the A16 Bionic.
Most importantly, iPhone SE 4 will have 8GB RAM to ensure support for Apple Intelligence. This may mean access to a smarter Siri with ChatGPT integration, AI-created emojis, advanced writing tools and more.
Since iPhone 15 doesn't have these AI features, the iPhone SE 4 is a much more future-ready option.
Camera & Battery
The iPhone SE 4 is an affordable smartphone and as such it will cuts costs and that means having just one rear camera, meaning no ultra-wide lens. However, it’s expected to have a 48MP main camera, similar to the iPhone 15, allowing for decent zoom.
Battery life should be similar for both, lasting about a day, with 20W wired and 15W MagSafe charging.
One unknown is the likely presence on iPhone SE 4 of the new Apple-made modem. It is as untested in the real world and its performance levels are not known.
Should You Wait?
With better AI features and a lower price, the iPhone SE 4 could be a smarter buy than the iPhone 15. And let's face it, if photography is what you really wanted, then you should pick the iPhone 15 Pro and not iPhone 15. However, the battle between iPhone SE 4 and iPhone 15 should be decided exactly on what your requirements are. Weigh carefully, but wait till the upcoming iPhone is launched when Apple will confirm the specs and features.
By the way, do remember that iPhone SE 4 launch date has been pushed to next week as disclosed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman today in his X post.
