Team India capped off the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 group stage in style, defeating New Zealand by 44 runs on Sunday. The Men In Blue finished at the top of Group A with six points from their three matches and will now face Australia in the tournament's first semifinal.

India's bowlers put up a spectacular show to humble New Zealand in the final group stage match. India failed to put up a strong total on the board while batting first. Shreyas Iyer's 98-ball 79 run innings, followed by Hardik Pandya's 45, helped the team to score 249 runs in the first innings.

While the total looked below par initially, Varun Chakravarthy turned the match in India's favour. His match-winning five-wicket haul ensured New Zealand were bowled out for 205 in 45.3 overs.

From Group B, South Africa has made it to the semifinals as the number one team and will take on New Zealand in the second semifinal.

In Group B, Australia managed only one victory against England while their remaining games were washed out due to rain. 

The match against India will be Australia's first outing in Dubai in this year’s Champions Trophy. The Aussies had an intense 3-hour practice session at ICC Academy on Sunday afternoon.

The semifinal between India and Australia will be played on March 4 at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai. The toss will take place at 2:00 p.m., while the first ball of the match will be bowled at 2:30 p.m.

Young spin-bowling all-rounder Cooper Connolly has replaced injured Matthew Short in the Australian squad for the knockout stages of the Champions Trophy.

Short was ruled out of the ICC event due to a calf injury sustained during the match against Afghanistan. The 21-year-old Connolly, who made his ODI debut in England last year, was initially named as a travelling reserve for the tournament.

India are likely to continue with their winning combination and remain unchanged.

India and Australia have faced each other 151 times in ODIs. India has won 57 times, and Australia has clinched 84 victories, while 10 matches have ended without a result.
