FC Barcelona will close its academies in India on July 1, ending operations in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Pune. In an official statement, the club thanked the families, coaches, and staff for their support over the years.
FC Barcelona has operated in India since 2010, teaching thousands of youngsters to play football in the Barça style and with the club’s values. The academies participated in two Barça Academy APAC tournaments in 2019 and 2020 and took part in the Barça Academy World Cup held in Barcelona during Easter Week.
The Barça Academy trained boys and girls aged four to 17, providing a comprehensive training environment. Notable players like Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets were trained in the Barça academy system and later achieved stardom.
