Team India kicked off their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a convincing six-wicket win against Bangladesh on Feb. 20.

In their next match, the Rohit Sharma-led side will be up against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. While India made a winning start to their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, defending champions Pakistan failed to clinch a victory in their tournament opener. Playing against New Zealand, the hosts conceded a 60-run defeat.

As India and Pakistan are set to face each other this weekend, we take a look at the head-to-head records between the two eternal rivals.

India vs Pakistan: Head-To-Head In ODIs

Overall, India and Pakistan have faced each other 135 times in ODIs. Out of these, Pakistan emerged victorious 73 times while India clinched 57 wins. Five matches have ended with no result.

When it comes to ICC tournaments, India have got the better of Pakistan eight times at the 50-over World Cup. Pakistan have not managed to beat India so far in the history of the ODI World Cup.

In the Champions Trophy, the two neighbouring nations faced each other five times. Out of these, India defeated Pakistan twice. Pakistan succeeded in overpowering India three times in the Champions Trophy.

India vs Pakistan: First And Last ODIs

India and Pakistan faced each other for the first time in ODIs on October 1, 1978. India had won that fixture, played in Quetta, by four runs. Chasing a target of 171, Pakistan could manage to reach 166 runs. India's Mohinder Amarnath was adjudged Player of the Match in the game for his all-round show. Amarnath had hit a fabulous half-century in that game and came back to pick two important wickets.

In the 50-over format, the two sides lined up against each other last time during the 2023 ODI World Cup, held in India. Playing in Ahmedabad, the Indian cricket team had clinched a resounding seven-wicket win in that fixture. Batting first, Pakistan could manage to reach 191 in 42.5 overs. India did not face much trouble during the run chase as they reached the target with 117 balls to spare. Skipper Rohit Sharma had produced a match-winning knock of 86 off 63 balls in that game.

IND vs PAK: Last Meeting In An ICC Tournament

The last time India faced Pakistan in an ICC Tournament was during the T20 World Cup last year. A gritty Indian team, guided by the redoubtable Jasprit Bumrah, went past an imploding Pakistan by six runs in a low-scoring contest in New York.

The Rohit Sharma-led side suffered a mid-innings collapse on a two-paced track to be all out for an underwhelming 119 in 19 overs despite a gutsy effort from Rishabh Pant (42 off 31 balls) after being put in to bat under overcast conditions.

Pakistan, who can oscillate between the sublime and ridiculous, seemed to have the game in the bag needing 48 runs off as many balls with eight wickets in hand.

However, the pace combination of the ever-effective Bumrah (3/14) and Hardik Pandya (2/24) brought India back from the dead with incisive spells that saw Pakistan lose wickets in a heap to end at 113 for seven in 20 overs.

The equation came down to 18 off the last six balls and Arshdeep Singh held his nerve to defend it and ensure another famous win for India over Pakistan on the world stage.
