The Men In Blue, led by Rohit Sharma, will begin their foray in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by taking on neighbours Bangladesh on Thursday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Both the teams will look to get off on a winning note to make their positions comfortable in Group A, which also features Pakistan and New Zealand. The opening match of the tournament saw New Zealand beat Pakistan comfortably by 60 runs.
While the Indian cricket team will look to assert their dominance early in the 50-over tournament, the Bangla Tigers will be determined to cause an upset with their dynamic squad.
India, Bangladesh: Recent Form
In their recent ODI Matches, India completed a clean sweep against England in a three-match ODI series earlier this month. However, Bangladesh, struggled in their last ODI series against West Indies and were defeated in all three matches.
India vs Bangladesh: Head-To-Head In ODIs
When it comes to the head-to-head record in between the two teams, India holds the upper hand. Out of 41 one-day international matches played between the two teams, India won 32 matches and the Bangladesh won eight. The remaining one was without a result.
In the 2018 Asia Cup, Team India won both encounters at the Dubai International Stadium against team Bangladesh. However, recent history shows a shift in momentum for Bangladesh, as they did win three out of last five ODI encounters against India.
India vs Bangladesh: Players To Watch Out For
India:
Virat Kohli
Rohit Sharma
KL Rahul
Varun Chakaravarthy
Mohammed Shami
Bangladesh:
Najmul Hossain Shanto
Taskin Ahmed
Mushfiqur Rahim
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Kohli, Rohit and even head coach Gautam Gambhir, although only six months into his tenure, are living on borrowed time because the shockwaves created by the setbacks against New Zealand and Australia have not subsided yet.
Some bright signs are there though. Skipper Rohit made a century a few days back against England and Kohli a fifty, while Gambhir masterminded the dominant 4-1 and 3-0 victories in T20Is and ODIs respectively.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are going through the turmoil of their own, weakened by the absence of stars like Shakib Al Hasan. The Nazmul Hossain Shanto led team will rely on the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Taskin Ahmed and Mushfiqur Rahim.
India Vs Bangladesh: Where To Watch
