Air India AI 171 Ahmedabad-London plane crashed in Meghaninagar. The Air India Boeing Dreamliner was a 787 craft. As per NDTV reports 242 passengers were on board.

Injured taken to hospital and roads near crash site cordoned off.

Visuals from the site show a thick plume of grey smoking rising from the ground. Officials have not given details on the type of aircraft yet. The incident happened between 1 pm and 2 pm, as per NDTV reports.

A formal investigation has been initiated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau following the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, Minister of Civil Aviation said on X.

"The investigation will be in line with international protocols set by the International Civil Aviation Organization." he said.
