The police launched a major crackdown over Wednesday's violence in Ladakh. Around 50 people have been arrested during pre-dawn raids and searches in Leh, NDTV reported.

In a social media post on X, All India Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Mahua Moitra said, "Ladakh has waited patiently for years. None of the Centre’s promises to Ladakhis have been fulfilled. To now label them as deshdrohis is disgusting."

Ladakh Protest Live: 12 Companies Of CAPFs Were Deployed 

The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday sent at least 12 companies of CAPFs to Leh to control the situation on the ground, as per an India dot com report. It further added that, Out of the 12 companies, four CRPF companies have already reached, and four more will arrive on Thursday.

Ladakh Protest Live: Opposition Parties Call For Sensitve Handling Of Situation 

Post violence that erupted in Ladakh over statehood and other demands, opposition parties said the issue needs to be handled with sensitivity, and a clinical analysis needs to be done on the ground to identify the reasons and those behind the violence.

In a social media post on X, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah wrote, "Ladakh wasn’t even promised Statehood, they celebrated UT status in 2019 & they feel betrayed & angry. Now try to imagine how betrayed & disappointed we in J&K feel when the promise of statehood to J&K remains unfulfilled even though we have gone about demanding it democratically, peacefully & responsibly."

Ladakh Protest Live: Activist Sonam Wangchuk Under Fire

The government blamed activist Sonam Wangchuk for clashes in Ladakh that resulted in four dead 70. "In spite of many leaders urging to call off the hunger strike, he continued with it and misled the people through provocative mentions of Arab Spring-style protest and references to Gen Z protests in Nepal," the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement seen by NDTV.
