At least 8 people have died and 24 injured in the explosion near Delhi's Red Fort. The national capital has been put on high alert. Videos showed several charred vehicles, including electric rickshaws, at the explosion site. PM Modi and other senior figures expressed their condolences.

Delhi Blast Live Updates: US Closely Monitoring Situation

The United States on Monday said it is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to provide consular assistance in the wake of the deadly bomb blast near the Red Fort.

A State Department spokesperson told PTI that “we are aware of the explosion near Red Fort in Delhi. We are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to provide consular assistance.”

Delhi Blast Live Updates: NSG Commandos Reach Red Fort Explosion Site

An NSG team, along with a sniffer dog, is at the spot in Delhi where the blast took place in a Hyundai i20 car today at around 7 pm.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Amit Shah visited the site.

Delhi Blast Live Updates: 24 Injured

Twenty-four people were injured in the blast that took place on a busy evening when the area was milling with people. The injured were taken to the LNJP hospital, a few kilometres away, news agency PTI reported.

A National Security Guard (NSG) team arrived at the spot after the blast near Gate no 1 of the Red Fort Metro station in Delhi.

Delhi Blast Live Updates: States On High Alert

Several states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Kerala have been put on alert in the wake of Delhi blast. Security has been tightened across the UT of Chandigarh.

An alert has also been issued in Haryana. The government has issued instructions to all district magistrates.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, after receiving information about the incident from Director General of Police Rajiv Krishna, has given instructions to keep the entire police force on high alert and ensure intensive checking and security arrangements.

Rajnath Singh:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi around 7 pm on Monday. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles.

"Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives. Within 10 minutes of receiving the information of the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot. The NSG and NIA teams, along with the FSL, have now begun a thorough investigation. Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras."

Deputy Chief Fire Officer AK Malik says, "We got information that there was a blast in a car near Chandni Chowk Metro Station. We responded immediately, and seven units were sent to the spot. Multiple casualties have been brought to the government-run Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP) in Delhi due to the blast near Gate No 1 of Red Fort Metro Station, sources told news agency ANI.

A high alert has been sounded in Delhi after an explosion near the Red Fort, news agency PTI reported.

Delhi Blast Live Updates: Fire Department At Spot

The Delhi Fire Department said a call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, after which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage, reports ANI.

A total of seven fire tenders have reached the spot and a team from the Delhi Police Special Cell are also there.
