The United States on Monday said it is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to provide consular assistance in the wake of the deadly bomb blast near the Red Fort.
A State Department spokesperson told PTI that “we are aware of the explosion near Red Fort in Delhi. We are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to provide consular assistance.”

Delhi Blast Live Updates: NSG Commandos Reach Red Fort Explosion Site
An NSG team, along with a sniffer dog, is at the spot in Delhi where the blast took place in a Hyundai i20 car today at around 7 pm.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Amit Shah visited the site.

Twenty-four people were injured in the blast that took place on a busy evening when the area was milling with people. The injured were taken to the LNJP hospital, a few kilometres away, news agency PTI reported.

Several states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Kerala have been put on alert in the wake of Delhi blast. Security has been tightened across the UT of Chandigarh.
An alert has also been issued in Haryana. The government has issued instructions to all district magistrates.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, after receiving information about the incident from Director General of Police Rajiv Krishna, has given instructions to keep the entire police force on high alert and ensure intensive checking and security arrangements.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi around 7 pm on Monday. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles.
"Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives. Within 10 minutes of receiving the information of the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot. The NSG and NIA teams, along with the FSL, have now begun a thorough investigation. Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras."

The Delhi Fire Department said a call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, after which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage, reports ANI.
