The Congress on Saturday appointed former chief ministers Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, and ex-Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, as senior observers for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
"The Congress president (Mallikarjun Kharge) has appointed the following leaders as AICC senior observers for the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar with immediate effect -- Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
“The Congress president has also approved a proposal for the appointment of district election observers, as enclosed, for the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar, with immediate effect,” AICC general secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement.
The Congress chief has appointed a set of 41 leaders from across the country as election observers in every district of the state.
Bihar elections are slated later this year, and the Congress is leaving no stone unturned to return to power in the state along with its allies by ousting the ruling NDA.
