Chennai Power Shutdown Areas: Several areas of Chennai will face a five-hour power cut on Wednesday, Nov. 27, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation has announced.

The power supply will be disrupted due to maintenance work and essential repairs in these areas. The power will be restored in these areas once the maintenance work is completed, TANGEDCO has said.

Timing Of Chennai Power Cut Today

The power outage started at 9 am in Chennai and continue for five hours till 2 pm, the power distribution body said in its notice.

“Power supply will be suspended in the following areas as mentioned below for carrying out various maintenance works. Supply will be resumed before 2 PM, if the works are completed,” it said.

Chennai Power Shutdown: List of Affected Areas

The power cut in Chennai on Nov. 27 will be faced by residents in certain areas of New Washermenpet and Sothupakkam. Here are the affected areas:

New Washermenpet: North Terminel Road, T.H. Road Part, Thideer Nagar, Cheriyan Nagar, Sudalai Muthu Street, Ashok Nagar, Desiyan Nagar, Nammaiah Maistry Street, Butchammal Street, Nagooran Thottam, Balakrishnan Street, Fishing Harbour, Dhanapal Nagar, Venkatesan Ali Street, Veeraragavan Street, Erusappa Mestry Street, Poondithangammal Street, AE Koil Street, Avoor Muthaiya Street, Othavadai Street, Gandhi Street, Varadharajan Street, Mettu Street, Village Street, Cross Road, Sivan Nagar, Mangammal Thottam, Jeeva Nagar, MPT Quarters, AE Koil Street.

Sothupakkam: Balaji Garden, Pudhu Nagar, Bye Pass Road, Arroon Ullasa City, Shanthi Colony.

Earlier on Nov. 26, some areas in Teynampet and Minjur had faced power cuts during similar hours.

Orange Alert For Chennai

The power cut on Nov. 27 comes on a day when Chennai is on orange alert due to Cyclone Fengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the city.

“Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Pudukkottai districts and Puducherry,” the IMD said in its bulletin.
