July is expected to be a busy month for the banks in India. With no major festival lined up, banks will see increased activity this month, particularly amid the ongoing tax season.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s calendar, five weekday holidays and two regional festival-based holidays on Saturdays are lined up. Banks will remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays as well as all Sundays. This means that July will witness a total of 13 holidays, including the weekends.
These holidays are mainly local celebrations and religious events, with many observed in the northeast states. None of the weekday holidays in July will be observed universally across India.
During these days off, the physical branches of the banks will remain closed. However, online banking services will continue to operate, enabling customers to conduct transactions, access their accounts, and utilise digital payment methods without interruption. These include services like net banking, UPI, and ATM facilities, which will not be disrupted due to bank holidays.
