Stock Market Today: All You Need To Know Going Into Trade On Dec. 20

Indices in the Asia pacific region were mixed before the People's Bank of China's loan prime rate decision. Both the S&P ASX 200 and Kospi were trading around 1% down as of 07:36 a.m.

The Nikkei 225 was 0.6% higher after data showed consumer price, which excludes fresh foods, rose 2.7% in November, against 2.6% estimate by analysts. Hong Kong's Hang Seng also rose.

Most US indices ended Thursday with marginal fall as impact of the Federal Reserve's hawkish outlook for 2025 settles. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite ended 0.09% and 0.10% down, respectively.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.04% higher on Thursday.

GIFT Nifty was at 23,930.00, down 31 points or 0.1% at 7:36 a.m.

On Thursday, the benchmark equity indices recorded the lowest closing since Nov. 28, tracking global negative sentiment following hawkish commentary by the US Federal Reserve.

The NSE Nifty 50 closed 247.15 points or 1.02% down at 23,951.70, and the BSE Sensex ended 964.15 points or 1.2% lower at 79,218.05.

Overseas investors stayed net sellers for the fourth consecutive day and collectively offloaded stocks worth Rs 12,230.3 crore. Domestic institutional investors stayed net buyers for the third straight day. Foreign portfolio investors offloaded stocks worth approximately Rs 4,224.9 crore and the DIIs bought stocks worth Rs 3,943.2 crore on Thursday.

Stocks to Watch

  • Bharti Airtel: The telecom major has paid off Rs 3,626 crore to the Department of Telecom to clear its entire liability for spectrum acquired in 2016.

  • Nestle India: A spokesperson of the company said the suspension of the most-favoured-nation status granted to India by Switzerland will have "no impact" on the company.

  • Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders: The company commenced production activity for the first of the 14 fast patrol vessels for the Indian Coast Guard, with the project valued at Rs 1,070 crore.

  • Exide And Hyundai Motors India: The company has signed a binding term sheet with Exide Energy Solutions to produce and supply battery cells for its electric vehicles.

  • Hindustan Construction Co: HCC successfully raised Rs 600 crore as it concluded its qualified institutional placement on Thursday, which saw a robust response.

  • GE Vernova T&D India: The company received an order worth over Rs 400 crore from Sterlite Grid 32 Ltd. for supply and supervision of high-voltage equipment for a tariff-based competitive-bidding project.

  • Dhanlaxmi Bank: The board approved the terms of rights issue of shares worth Rs 297.5 crore at Rs 21 per share.

  • InterGlobe Aviation: The board of the company approved a grant of unsecured loan of $43 million to subsidiary InterGlobe Aviation Financial Services IFSC Pvt.

  • Shriram Properties: The company approved the proposed divestment of securities held in arm SPL Shelters.

  • Muthoot Microfin: Managing Director Thomas Muthoot handed over reins of Muthoot Pappachan Group to son Thomas Muthoot John.

  • Cosmo First: The company launched its innovative paint protection films, designed to preserve and enhance automotive exteriors. It will now begin market trials for the product.

  • BASF India: The company has approved demerger of its agricultural solutions business into a separate listed legal entity.

  • Tolins Tyres: The company approved the appointment of CMA Sojan C S as CFO with immediate effect.

  • Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works: The company will raise funds via issuance of equity shares through a private placement or qualified institutional placement.

  • Kellton Tech Solutions: The board of directors have approved raising up to Rs 100 crore through equity shares or other securities via methods like private placement, QIP, or preferential issue.

  • National Highways Infra Trust: Raising of debt through various sources, including term loans, issuance of non-convertible debt, zero coupon bonds and/or any other mode.

  • KPI Green Energy: The company has set Jan. 3 as the record date for determining eligibility of shareholders for bonus issue of shares. It has also signed an MoU with Rajasthan for development of renewable projects at Jaisalmer.

  • Endurance Tech: The company received regulatory nod from the Italian Chamber of Commerce for merger among step-down arms.

  • Ice Make Refrigeration: The company introduced new product segment commercial freezers including chest freezer and cooler and VISI cooler. 

  • EPL: The company approved the incorporation of a subsidiary in Thailand for manufacturing and trading of laminated tubes.

  • Deep Industries: The company received a letter of award from Selan Exploration Technology for integrated drilling services.

  • International Gemmological Institute: The company's shares will debut on the stock exchange on Friday. The Rs 4,225-crore IPO has been subscribed 33.78 times on the final day, with issue price at Rs 417. The bids were led by qualified institutional investors (45.8 times), non-institutional investors (24.84 times), portion reserved for employees (20.63 times) and retail investors (11.21 times).

  • Transrail Lighting: The public issue was subscribed to 2.07 times on day one. The bids were led by qualified institutional investors (0.78 times), non-institutional investors (2.1 times), employee reserved (0.64 times), retail investors (2.87 times).

  • DAM Capital Advisors: The public issue was subscribed to 2.75 times on day one. The bids were led by qualified institutional investors (0.01 times), non-institutional investors (3.72 times), employee reserved (6.19 times), retail investors (3.88 times).

  • Mamata Machinery: The public issue was subscribed 16.48 times on day one. The bids were led by qualified institutional investors (1.51 times), non-institutional investors (18.87 times), employee reserved (28.7 times), retail investors (23.84 times).

  • Sanathan Textiles: The public issue was subscribed to 0.45 times on day one. There were no bids by qualified institutional investors, non-institutional investors (0.32 times), retail investors (0.76 times).

  • Concord Enviro Systems: The public issue was subscribed to 0.59 times on day 1. There were no bids by qualified institutional investors, non-institutional investors (0.35 times), retail investors (1.02 times).

  • Carraro India: The engineering, procurement and construction company will offer shares for bidding on Friday. The price band is set from Rs 668 to Rs 704 per share. The Rs 1,250-crore IPO issue is entirely offer for sale. The company raised Rs 375 crore from anchor investors.

  • Ventive Hospitality: The hotels operator will offer shares for bidding on Friday. The price band is set from Rs 610 to Rs 643 per share. The Rs 1,600-crore IPO issue is entirely a fresh issue. The company raised Rs 719 crore from anchor investors.

  • Senores Pharmaceuticals: The pharmaceuticals manufacturer will offer shares for bidding on Friday. The price band is set from Rs 372 to Rs 391 per share. The Rs 582-crore IPO issue is a combination of a fresh issue of Rs 500 crore and rest Rs 82 crore as offer for sale. The company raised Rs 261 crore from anchor investors.
