Bharat Electronics Ltd., Tata Steel Ltd., Cipla Ltd., HDFC Life Insurance Co. and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. emerged as the top gainers of the NSE Nifty 50 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd., JSW Steel Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank, Coal India Ltd. and Power Grid Corp. were the biggest laggards among the Nifty 50 stocks.
Bharat Electronics was the best performer, closing 5.35% higher at Rs 383.25 apiece. Tata Steel closed 1.93% up at Rs 161.75. Cipla also had a strong close at Rs 1,481 apiece. HDFC Life and Bajaj Finserv were also among Wednesday's winners.
IndusInd Bank was the biggest loser, closing 1.98% down at Rs 766.80 lower. JSW Steel ended 1.17% lower at Rs 1,000.90 apiece, while Kotak Mahindra Bank, Coal India and Power Grid were also among the losers, ending 0.98%, 0.67% and 0.62% lower respectively.
The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex snapped a three-day decline to end on a positive note. The Nifty closed 0.52% higher at 24,813.45 and the Sensex ended 0.50% up at 81,591.49.
