Hero MotoCorp Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd., and Tata Steel Ltd. emerged as the top gainers during the trading session on Tuesday. On the other hand, Jio Financial Services Ltd. and Zomato-parent Eternal were the among top laggards.
Indian benchmark indices snapped two-day gaining streak ahead of US Federal Reserve meeting. During the session, the NSE Nifty 50 declined 0.52% to the day's low of 4,331.80, and the BSE Sensex fell 0.39% to the day's low of 80,481.03.
At the close of market hours, Nifty 50 settled 81.55 points or 0.33% lower at 24,379.60, whereas the Sensex closed 155.77 points or 0.19% down at 80,641.07.
Hero MotoCorp was among the top performers in the Nifty 50 index, closing 2.48% higher at Rs 3,861. Bharti Airtel's shares settled 1.5% higher at Rs 1,431.1. Tata Steel Ltd., Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. were also among the key gainers.

M&M rose after brokerages including Goldman Sachs, BofA, Macquarie, and Citi indicated a positive outlook on the counter, with calls ranging from 'buy' to 'outperform'.
Among the laggards, Jio Financials shares declined nearly 3.68% to close at Rs 251.20. Eternal closed 3.03% lower at Rs 232.64, and Trent ended 2.73% down at Rs 5,224 per share. SBI Life Insurance Corp. was also among the worst performers of the day.
