FPIs Turn Net Buyers After A Day, DIIs Turn Net Sellers After 29 Sessions

Foreign portfolio investors turned net buyers of Indian equities on Thursday after a day as they mopped stocks worth Rs 3,239.14 crore.

Domestic institutional investors turned net sellers after 29 straight sessions of buying, as they net offloaded equities worth Rs 3,136.02 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange. DII last turned net sellers of equities on Feb. 4, where they offloaded equities worth Rs 430.7 crore.

On Wednesday, the FPIs offloaded equities worth Rs 966.75 crore. So far in March, the FPIs have offloaded equities worth Rs 34,901 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd's data.

In February, the FPIs net offloaded equities worth Rs 34,574 crore. This was preceded by net selling of Rs 78,027 crore in January. In 2025 so far, the overseas investors have net sold equities worth Rs 1.47 lakh crore, the NSDL data showed.

Indian equities posted their fourth consecutive day of gains on Thursday after the US Federal Reserve signalled more interest rate cuts later this year, seeing a brief increase in inflation due to Trump's tariff policies.

Benchmark indices ended at their highest level in over a month. The NSE Nifty 50 closed 1.24% or 283 points, higher at 23,190.65, while the BSE Sensex added nearly 900 points, or 1.2%, to end at 76,348.06.

Intraday, Nifty gained 1.35% to edge above 23,200, way past the resistance seen by analysts at 23,000. The Sensex climbed 1.3% to go beyond 76,400.
