Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. Overseas investors net sold shares worth Rs 1,542.6 crore, according to the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
Domestic institutional investors stayed net buyers and mopped up equities worth Rs 2,763.1 crore, the data showed. This was their third straight session of buying.
The FPIs have mopped up shares worth Rs 14,590 crore in June and Rs 19,860 crore in the previous month, as per NSDL data. In 2025 so far, the FPIs have net sold equities worth Rs 75,966 crore.
India's benchmark equity indices closed lower on Wednesday, dragged by share prices of HDFC Bank Ltd. and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 88 points or 0.35% lower at 25,453.40, while the BSE Sensex closed 287.60 points or 0.34% down at 83,409.69.
