Zenzo, an emergency healthcare provider, has launched a fleet of 25,000 ambulances in over 450 cities to provide help within minutes, just like a cab on aggregator platforms.
In an interview with NDTV Profit, Sweta Mangal, the co- founder and chief executive officer of Zenzo, mentioned that the company's moto is to provide quick access to ambulance services just like coffee, clothing or make-up. Some of these ambulances are 5G equipped and the aim is to extend this facility to the entire fleet, she said.
Talking about the facilities, Mangal mentioned that both basic or cardiac (advanced) types of ambulances are available on their platform and the way to access this facility is going to be through a centralised number, that is, 1800 102 1298.
The price for cardiac ambulances is Rs 2,500 for 5 km, exceeding which, a charge of Rs 100 will be levied per kilometer. Whereas, Rs 1,500 will be charged for a basic ambulance for 5 km with a cost of Rs 50/km beyond that. These prices are nation-wide.
Zenzo's pricing for this service are the lowest but still competitive with all other players in the market, Mangal said in a press conference post the interview.
"We are working closely with insurance companies to make this process cashless. While we are still in the process of implementing it, as of now, depending on your coverage, you can get a reimbursement for ambulance charges from your insurance company," the CEO said.
Separately, the company has partnered with Zomato to train it's delivery partners to give CPR and perform basic health emergency care. Mangal also mentioned that Zenzo is in the process of partnering with other such aggregator platforms to train their staff in a similar manner.
