Power Mech Gets Rs 579 Crore Order From BHEL For Jharkhand Project

Power Mech Projects Ltd. on Friday secured a contract worth Rs 579 crore from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. for civil structural and architectural works in Jharkhand.

The project scope encompasses various civil works for the 2x800 MW DVC Koderma (KTPS) Phase-II in Jharkhand, accordong to a stock exchange filing.

It involves leveling and grading of the entire power block area, including the transformer yard and flue gas desulferisation, as well as land leasing and preparation for labor hutments. Additionally, the project includes the construction of restrooms for operation and maintainence workers and sheds for construction workers.

The infrastructure development aspect of the project involves building foundations for essential structures such as the power house, boiler, electrostatic precipitator, mill, bunker, fan, and others. Furthermore, the project includes paving works for roads and walkways, as well as the construction of a service building with parking facilities.

The project also involves the installation of various utility and support systems, including a rooftop solar system within the power block area, sewage water lines within the power generation area, and civil works for low pressure piping and fire fighting systems. Moreover, the project includes the construction of pipe racks and cable racks, buried cables and wirea duct civil works, and other essential infrastructure.

To ensure safety and security, the project includes the implementation of a fire protection system and the installation of fencing for isolation between existing stations and the project area. Other features of the project include the development of a customer office, switchyard works, AC and ventilation ducting, and the construction of a compressor, and other essential infrastructure.

Power Mech is expected to complete the project in under three years. The company had won another order last month for the Koderma project.

The Hyderabad-based engineering and infrastructure-construction company has an orderbook of Rs 4,242 crore as of December quarter. Itspecialises in providing comprehensive services in the power sector, including erection, testing, and commissioning of power plants.

Shares closed nearly 6% higher at Rs 2,168.85 on Friday, ahead of the announcement, compared to 0.73% gain in the benchmark BSE Sensex.
