All Seven Adani Airports Complete Onboarding DigiYatra To Streamline Passenger Travel

The company reported that its seven airports manage over 6.8 million DigiYatra transactions since its rollout in August 2023.

Adani Airports Holdings Ltd. announced the onboarding of Mangaluru International Airport and Thiruvananthapuram International Airport into the DigiYatra initiative of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. With this, all seven operational airports of AAHL will now offer passengers the ability to use DigiYatra to access the airports, according to a press release from the company.

The firm said that this step aligns with its commitment to enhance passenger experience through seamless and contactless travel. 

The company reported that its seven airports have managed over 6.8 million DigiYatra transactions since its rollout in August 2023.

"Since its launch on 15 August 2023, DigiYatra took flight at five of our airports: Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Guwahati. Offering the DigiYatra experience to our passengers in Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram Airports underscores AAHL’s dedication to the adoption of innovative technologies that enhance passenger convenience and security," Jeet Adani, director of AAHL, said.

The DigiYatra initiative was launched with the intention to provide a paperless and hassle-free travel experience for passengers, leveraging facial recognition technology for seamless entry at airports.

The facial recognition technology used by DigiYatra is there to ensure seamless passage at various checkpoints.

DigiYatra was created with the goal of removing the need for physical documents, making the travel process efficient and ecologically friendly for passengers.

It reported 14% average month-to-month growth in the last nine months, the release said.

DigiYatra also aims to reduce wait times at various touchpoints in order to ensure a smoother and faster journey for passengers. The Digi Yatra initiative has pushed security and privacy to the forefront of its mission, according to the release.

"We have seen a substantial rise in the adoption of DigiYatra by passengers, with some of our airports showing a utilisation as high as 37% in one day. More passengers are opting for the convenience and speed of DigiYatra, thereby redefining their travel experience," Jeet Adani added.

According to the release, up to 25% to 30% take part in the average utilisation at AAHL airports.

The highest percentage of passengers using DigitYatra at an AAHL airport was 37.1% in CSMIA on Jan. 20, 2025.
