The Maharashtra government has proposed a third airport for Mumbai near the state's border with Gujarat.
"A third airport for Mumbai is proposed near Vadhavan Port, alongside a Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train station," Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said while presenting the Maharashtra Budget 2025.
Domestic flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport will begin next month as 85% work is completed, he said. Trial flights have been successful.
Additionally, the state government has approved development projects worth Rs 1,367 crore for the Shirdi Airport.
