India's nodal cybersecurity agency, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, has issued a high-severity alert warning of rapidly evolving cyber threats fuelled by advances in frontier artificial intelligence models. The advisory comes amid growing unease in the tech ecosystem following “Mythos” jitters, industry shorthand for the disruptive potential of next-generation AI systems.

In its latest note titled ‘Defending Against Frontier AI Driven Cyber Risks', released on April 26, CERT-In cautioned that the maturing capabilities of advanced AI systems are reshaping the threat landscape. These systems can now autonomously detect vulnerabilities in widely used software, analyse source code at scale, and orchestrate complex, multi-stage cyberattacks with minimal human intervention.
