The Nifty 50 hovered around 24,218, while the Sensex traded near 78,108 as investors assessed global cues and movements in crude oil prices. Both indices had rallied on Tuesday, snapping a two-day losing streak as easing oil prices and improving global sentiment supported risk appetite.
Oil prices steadied after Tuesday's drop, which followed a now-deleted post by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright claiming the US Navy had escorted an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz. Brent traded at $87.91 a barrel, down $3.14 or 3.45%, while WTI was around $83.43 a barrel, largely flat. The White House denied the claim, and the post was later deleted, keeping market focus on risks around the Strait of Hormuz.

- The company said Elbers will be relieved from service effective close of business on March 10, 2026, and Managing Director Rahul Bhatia will assume management charge on an interim basis.
- Elbers cited personal reasons in his resignation letter and requested a waiver of the notice period; he had taken charge as CEO in September 2022.

- He also marked 24,600 as a higher resistance area, and said a sustained move above that zone would be needed for a broader recovery.
