Indian equity benchmarks were trading at day's low after fluctuating between gains and losses in the opening trade. The declines in the benchmark indices were led by Infosys Ltd. and HDFC Bank Ltd. The BSE Sensex fell over 200 points to trade near 83,200 and the NSE Nifty 50 fell 0.2% to below 25,700. The broader markets — represented by the NSE Nifty 500 Index — outperformed the benchmarks, led by the gains in CE Infotech and Transformers & Rectifiers.
Eleven out of 15 sectoral gauges compiled by the NSE traded higher, led by the NSE Nifty Metal Index's 1% gains. On the flipside, the NSE Nifty IT Index was the top sectoral loser, down 0.8%. The market breadth was tilted in favour of buyers. About 1,829 stocks advanced and 982 shares declined on the NSE.
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan's Topix index rose more than 1%, ending a three-day losing run. The Nikkei 225 added 0.8%, extending gains from Tuesday. Markets in China and Hong Kong, along with several regional exchanges, stayed shut for the Lunar New Year holiday.
Nifty Today Live: Companies Using AI For Core Ops Will Do Better
Deven Choksey told NDTV Profit that the pace of AI adoption is set to accelerate significantly in the coming years. He noted that companies using AI in their core operations are moving much faster than those merely enabling AI for others. According to him, Indian IT companies are now shifting towards a delivery‑only model as the industry undergoes a major structural transition.
Choksey also said that current market valuations appear reasonable, reflecting improving fundamentals. He added that the fourth quarter is shaping up to be stronger than the third, indicating a healthier outlook for earnings momentum.
ITC Share Price Today: Valuation 'Appealing' After 20% Fall In 2026
A nearly 20% decline in ITC Ltd. share price so far this year has made entry "appealing", according to multinational brokerage UBS, which expects better operational performance in the next fiscal after rolling out cigarette price hikes.
The firm maintained a 'buy' rating on ITC and cut target price to Rs 395 from Rs 420 earlier. The new price indicates a 22% potential upside to the previous close.

- The Bombay High Court on Tuesday stayed a bailable warrant issued by the District Consumer Commission, South Goa, against Bhavish Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd.
- The court issued notice to the commission and said it had prima facie exceeded its jurisdiction under the Consumer Protection Act by invoking powers it did not have.
- The High Court noted that powers to issue a warrant of detention arise only at the enforcement stage under Section 71, after an order granting compensation is passed and enforcement is sought.

Stock Market Live: Banks Shut In Sikkim Today For Losar; More State Holidays This Week
- Bank branches in Sikkim will remain closed on February 18 for Losar, as per the RBI holiday list.
- Banks will also be shut on February 19 in Maharashtra for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, and on February 20 in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram for State Day/Statehood Day.
- Customers can use ATMs, UPI and internet banking on these days; banks will also be shut on February 22 (Sunday) and February 28 (fourth Saturday).

- Regulatory filings show Berkshire Hathaway reduced its Amazon holding by nearly 75% in the December quarter, ending with about 2.3 million shares.
- Berkshire bought about 5.1 million shares of The New York Times Co., valued at roughly $351.7 million at the end of the quarter; the stock rose more than 10% in post-market trading after the disclosure.
