In a recent interview, Jamie Lever revealed the tough time of her life, when her brother Jesse Lever's illness changed the entire dynamics of their family.
The legendary actor-comedian Johnny Lever is often seen as a remarkable icon who has managed to make every household echo with laughter. When his career was at its peak with his unforgettable roles, Johnny Lever silently faced a personal family crisis that transformed the entire family. The crisis was when Johnny Lever's son Jesse Lever was diagnosed with a neck tumour back in 2000. Jamie Lever recalls this period of time as a period that changed their lives.
'It Became Out Of Control..'
Jamie started talking about the tough phase as she shared, "He was in school at the time, so I didn't initially understand what it was. Then it became out of control. And it was to the extent that, as a child, he started becoming very uncomfortable. So, his clothes changed, the way he used to dress, because he wanted to hide it."

She then added on to mention the surgery and how faith was holding the family together during the time. "It was a difficult surgery, a very complicated surgery. So, during that time, our entire life completely shifted. We have always been quite god-fearing and spiritual, but during that time, I think it became very real. It was like, all these things—money and all that—will just fade away. What really matters is family, God, you know, and family really matters, being there for each other."
'The Failed Surgery'
Jamie Lever also shared about the surgeries Jesse Lever had to go through. "So, we had one surgery in Mumbai, which failed. We had another surgery in America, and that was a very long surgery. So there were two surgeries that he underwent, and after that, in fact, the entire process was a matter of about two years. So two years were spent on his medication and all those things." She recalled that the family did not originally plan for a medical treatment in the U.S.; they were actually on a summer vacation. However, her father's friends suggested looking for good doctors in America, too, who eventually saved her brother's life.

'To Care For A Son...A Very Pampered Child'
Jamie opened up about how Jesse Lever was the only son of the family. Parents have high hopes that their son will take their family forward, she shared. "He was a very pampered child, so that was a little tough for us. And also to see him have surgery—I was there to witness it. So, we took a lot of care of him, we looked after him, and we are so happy and proud of who he is today."
Jamie had previously mentioned the rumors that claimed Jesse Lever had cancer. She quickly clarified that it wasn't a cancer, rather a tumor where the tumor grew big in size around his neck.
