Netflix's animated spin-off Stranger Things: Tales From '85 has impressed fans with its nostalgic return to the world of Hawkins. The series continues the story of Eleven and her friends in a fresh animated format, blending supernatural horror, friendship, and classic 80s vibes.
Stranger Things: Tales From '85 Renewed For Season 2
It has been officially confirmed that the animated series is returning for a second season, as Netflix has renewed the nostalgic 1985-set adventures. The announcement comes shortly after the premiere of Season 1, which premiered on April 23, 2026.
The streaming giant posted a clip from the animated series and captioned, "Big news nerds!!! Tales From ‘85 season 2 — coming this fall."
As per the official log line, the story is set in the winter of 1985, where Hawkins slowly but eventually starts to appear normal, healing from the past horrors. Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max are slowly settling back into a peaceful life filled with D&D nights, snowball fights, and quiet days. However, a new threat awaits beneath the surface, reuniting the friend group once again as they work together to confront the danger and protect their town.
Success of Season 1
Stranger Things: Tales From '85 had quickly climbed the charts as it debuted at No. 7 on Netflix's weekly Top 10 English-language TV chart for April 20–26. Viewers praised the series for maintaining the authenticity of the original series while having a touch of its own.
Plot
The series takes place between Stranger Things Season 2 and Season 3. Apart from Eleven's friend group, a new character, Nikki Baxter, voiced by Odessa A'zion, was introduced. She also becomes part of the friend group, as a 'protector' of the crew.
The new threats, Snow sharks and Jerk-O-Lanterns plague Hawkins. The stories focus on the adventures of the friend group while maintaining the horror, friendship, and supernatural elements, similar to the original series.
Cast
Unlike the original Stranger Things live-action series, which features stars such as Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, and Sadie Sink, the animated spin-off Tales From '85 features an entirely different voice cast.
The voice actors for the animated series include Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Luca Diaz, Braxton Quinney, Ben Plessala, Elisha “EJ” Williams, Brett Gipson, Alessandra Antonelli, and Jeremy Jordan, among others.
The series is developed by showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles along with Jennifer Muro. It is executive produced by Matt and Ross Duffer through their banner Upside Down Pictures, along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.
