Laurene Powell Jobs, wife of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is in India to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. She arrived in the city on Saturday, Jan. 11, with a 40-member team, and will be staying at the camp of Swami Kailashnand Giri, Acharya Mahamandleshwar of Niranjini Akhara.
A devotee of Swami Kailashnand Giri, Laurene was welcomed at the camp on Sunday with a grand reception. Dressed in a peach-yellow salwar and rudraksha around her neck, the businesswoman-philanthropist was served hot masala chai in a 'kulhad'.
Laurene will stay at the Niranjini Akhara camp till Jan. 15, after which she will fly back to the United States to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Donald Trump.
Ahead of her visit for the Maha Kumbh, Laurene Powell Jobs received a new name, 'Kamala'. She first visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi on Saturday before heading out for Prayagraj.

Who Is Laurene Powell Jobs, Steve Jobs’ Wife?
Laurene Powell Jobs is a billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist. Forbes pegs her net worth at $15.5 billion as of Jan. 13.
She is also the founder and chair of Emerson Collective, a non-profit organisation in the US. The organisation is an impact investing, philanthropy and advocacy firm that focuses on environmental justice, health, immigration and education.
According to Forbes, Laurene mostly inherited her fortune from her late husband Steve Jobs, through shares of Walt Disney and Apple.
In 2017, Powell Jobs acquired a stake in The Atlantic and has since invested in other media outlets and nonprofit newsrooms, such as Axios, ProPublica, and the Committee to Protect Journalists.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Laurene is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania. After her studies, Laurene worked with Goldman Sachs and was employed there for three years.
She met Steve Jobs in 1989 when she was studying MBA at Stanford where the Apple co-founder was visiting as a guest speaker. They got married two years later and have three children together.
