Ukraine’s grid operator said it was limiting power supplies at Christmas amid a large-scale missile attack by Russia targeting the nation’s energy infrastructure.
Ukrenergo, the nation’s power grid operator, said the limits were a precautionary measure in a Telegram post. The range of missiles launched by Moscow is aimed at energy facilities, Ukraine’s Energy Minister German Galushchenko indicated in a Facebook post.
“The transmission system operator is taking the necessary measures to limit consumption to minimise the negative consequences for the energy system,” Galushchenko said.
Russian forces have attacked energy infrastructure throughout Ukraine multiple times since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022.
