We may finally be seeing Samsung’s tiny rolling robot, Ballie, around homes soon! This adorable AI assistant made its surprise appearance at Samsung’s latest SmartThings ad, first introduced five years ago at CES. That’s a big tip-off that the company is going to officially introduce it soon.

Samsung had promised to bring Ballie to market by the end of 2025 but showcased it a second time at CES this year. So what exactly makes this little robot so special?

Ballie is more than just a cute moving ball, it is also a very useful smart home assistant loaded with great features. It follows you around and responds to voice commands, and can even project images onto floors and walls. Want to check the weather? Ballie can do that.

How about you need a quick movie night setup? Ballie can stream it for you. Plus, it'll pull up personal data from Samsung Health and connect with SmartThings devices in order to control other appliances in your home.

Ballie is equipped with cameras, a mini projector, and speakers and was designed to help make everyday life a little easier. What if you awake and Ballie rolls over to tell you about the news or remind you of your meetings? It could turn the lights on or even play your morning playlist.

When can you actually get one? That part is still a mystery. There is no real release date yet from Samsung, but it seems safe to say that the US will be the first in line to roll them into stores.

All we can do for now is wait and maybe plan what we’ll ask Ballie to do first when it finally does arrive.
