Samsung is set to reveal the eagerly awaited Galaxy S25 series smartphones at its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in January 2025. According to a leaked Italian teaser poster on X, the Unpacked date is set for Jan. 22.
In addition to the flagship Galaxy S25 devices, Samsung is anticipated to release its One UI 7 user interface, which is based on Android 15 and has a plethora of new artificial intelligence features.
Here’s what to expect from the Galaxy Unpacked event:
Samsung Galaxy S25
Samsung has previously announced that the Galaxy S25 family will be available in early 2025; hence, their launch is most certain at the event. The company is expected to offer the versions that typically comprise its flagship lineup: a normal phone, the Galaxy S25 Plus, and the high-end Galaxy S25 Ultra.
While the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera may have an updated telephoto lens with improved zooming plus an ultrawide sensor, the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus’s camera upgrades might be few. Samsung has announced that it will employ the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, while rumours have it that all models will be powered by the latest Qualcomm processor.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim
It has been reported that Samsung is developing the Galaxy S25 Slim, a leaner variant in the Galaxy S25 family. The rumoured device’s USP is that it would be significantly slimmer than past Samsung flagships. Given that the S24 is 7.6 mm thin, Samsung could bring the new phone’s dimensions closer to those of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which, when unfolded, is 5.6 mm thick.
According to another rumour, the Galaxy S25 Slim would include a 200MP primary camera, which is the same hardware specification as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, it’s unclear what chipset Samsung would utilise and other specifics.
One UI 7
For Galaxy S24 models, Samsung has already launched the One UI 7 beta, which is based on Android 15. The Galaxy S25 series is expected to follow with a full deployment. New Galaxy AI features include writing tools, call transcripts, and advanced editing.
Design upgrades such as the lock screen Now bar, system UI changes, and camera interface upgrades are in beta, and so are security upgrades such as the Knox Matrix Dashboard, improved data and theft protection, and passkey logins.
Project Moohan: Mixed Reality Device
Samsung may also give a preview of its next XR headgear, which will run on the recently unveiled Android XR platform. The company has revealed that its headset, code-named Project Moohan, will launch in 2025. The timing points to a sneak peek at the Galaxy Unpacked. The device is reported to feature the Snapdragon XR Plus Gen 2 chipset.
