Smartphone maker Samsung has confirmed that its upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge will launch on May 13. Branded as the slimmest Galaxy S Series device yet, Samsung’s new handset is set to compete directly with Apple’s “unbelievably thin” iPhone 17 Air.
“Ready to go beyond slim? Like this post for updates and join us on May 13 to check out the slimmest Galaxy S Series ever,” Samsung revealed in a blog post on May 8.
While iPhone 17 Air will hit the shelves with the rest of the series in September, some leaks have given a glimpse of the upcoming Apple launch.
Amid the speculations, tech enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see which brand will be able to execute the ultra-slim smartphone concept without hurting the specifications. One of the major concerns of both Samsung and Apple fans has been that a slimmer phone could mean a compromise with the battery performance.
On April 24, tech enthusiast Sonny Dickson shared the details of the Apple dummy models on X. The post showed the new Apple series dummies placed side by side, including the Air model, which appeared nearly half as thick as the other devices.
What We Know About Apple iPhone 17 Air And S25 Edge
Like Apple, Samsung’s features are not out yet and there have only been speculations about the specifications of the model. However, Samsung has confirmed that the Edge will feature a 200MP wide lens camera. With this, the users can have Galaxy’s “iconic” camera experience, Samsung said. It may also come with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for enhanced durability.
The integration of artificial intelligence will be central to both devices, with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. On the other hand, Apple 17 Air is likely to come with the A19 chip.
According to a report by WinFuture, Edge could have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display and come with a 3,800mAh battery. Since the leak, one of the most talked-about features of the Apple iPhone 17 Air is the possible removal of the SIM card tray. If true, it would make it the first iPhone sold outside the United States to rely solely on eSIM technology.
