iPhone 17 Air Price Revealed Ahead Of Launch; Check List Of Specs And Features

Sometime in the middle of this September, when Apple releases its iPhone 17 lineup, the premium smartphone world may well shrink in size. The Cupertino-based tech major is widely expected to include a much slimmer model as part of the lineup, and tech experts like Mark Gurman of Bloomberg have dubbed it the iPhone 17 Air.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman has revealed the probable iPhone 17 Air price and even shed further light on what specs and features users might expect in return for their money.

The iPhone 17 Air price (retail) is set to be around $899 in the US, Gurman estimates, putting it in the same pricing range as the iPhone 16 Plus. Given the many rumors that the Air model may eventually replace the Plus model in the iPhone lineup, this news aligns with the earlier claims.

By these expectations, the iPhone 17 Air price in India could be around Rs 78,000, with taxes extra - a simple conversion of $899 into rupees. iPhone 16 Plus price in India on launch was Rs 89,900.

Despite its slim and lightweight design, Apple is working to ensure that no compromises are made to the battery performance of the iPhone 17 Air. According to Gurman, Apple has optimised the iPhone 17 Air’s hardware and software to use less power. 

Apple’s power-efficient C1 modem, a higher-density battery, and the absence of an ultrawide camera, which frees up internal space for a larger battery, are three rumoured features that should help the device have a longer-than-expected battery life.

The “thinnest iPhone ever” is expected to have the following specs and features:

• Measure only 5.5mm at its thinnest, which may go up to 9.5mm when including the rear camera bump.

• 3,000 mAh-4,000 mAh battery capacity

• A19 chipset

• 8GB RAM to power Apple Intelligence

• 6.6-inch OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate

• Face ID

• Dynamic Island

• ProMotion 

• Single 48MP main camera; 24MP selfie camera 

• Apple-made Wi-Fi 7 chip

• Apple-made C1 modem

• Single earpiece speaker (no speaker at the bottom)

• USB-C port (off centre placement)

• eSIM only (without physical slim card slot)
