Retailers today face a complex landscape marked by rising costs, supply chain disruptions, pricing pressures, and high employee turnover. At the same time, consumer expectations for personalised, omnichannel shopping experiences continue to rise.
In a bid to help retailers address these challenges, Google Cloud has unveiled a suite of new artificial intelligence-powered tools designed to help retailers improve their customers' experiences. The new AI solutions aim to drive business growth and help prepare retailers for the agentic AI era.
Google Agentspace
AI agents are moving beyond predictive capabilities to performing tasks autonomously. Google Cloud recently launched Google Agentspace, which brings together AI agents, Gemini’s advanced reasoning, Google-quality search, and enterprise data to improve productivity.
Now available to retailers, the solution can integrate text, images, video, and audio for an intuitive user experience. For example, a store employee looking for information on the latest product benefits can now ask “what are the latest features?” and find the details immediately to help a customer.
Vertex AI Search
The company also launched Vertex AI Search for commerce, enabling retailers to natively embed generative AI, Google-quality search, browsing, and recommendations into their digital storefronts. This can improve users’ ability to surface relevant products for any given search term.
The conversational commerce capability within Vertex AI Search further helps retailers provide assisted shopping on digital channels to engage with customers in a more natural and human-like conversation.
Gen AI Catalog and Content Enrichment
Retailers need accurate and engaging product information to capture consumer attention. The Gen AI Catalog and Content Enrichment solution, launched by Google Cloud, can help retailers improve product catalogues using input from multimodal models (Gemini 1.5 Pro, Gemini 1.5 Flash and Imagen 3), along with a multi-agent agentic workflow that assists merchandising teams with product onboarding.
Connected Store Solutions
Retailers are also looking for the right infrastructure, software, and AI solutions for bringing together data and insights to improve customer experiences and store productivity. Google Cloud will now offer Connected Store Solutions ranging from infrastructure products, such as Google Distributed Cloud, to data products such as BigQuery, to AI platforms, such as Vertex AI.
In addition, through the Model Garden, retailers can leverage over 160 foundation AI models, including Veo, Google Cloud’s new image-to-video model, and Imagen 3, its text-to-image model. These tools enable retail employees to access product information for better customer service, and customers can engage with dynamic media on their mobile devices based on their product searches.
