Apple launched the iPhone 16e on Feb. 19 in India and globally, but a benchmarking website had reportedly already featured the device, leaking some shocking details about the performance of the phone.

More than a week before the company’s newest smartphone will go on sale, a listing for a device bearing the ID iPhone 17,5 has been posted on Geekbench. MySmartPrice was the first to notice the listing, which is thought to be a new identifier related to the iPhone 16e.

Although the iPhone 16e won’t go on sale until Feb. 28, the listing already leaks some of its specifications.

iPhone 16e Leaked Benchmark Details

The listing states that “7.54GB” of RAM is included with the iPhone 16e. This indicates that it packs 8GB RAM, which is more than the 6GB found in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. This upgraded RAM will help the device to power Apple Intelligence and heavy AI models and apps.

The iPhone 16e’s Apple Intelligence features will include Writing Tools, Photos app with Clean Up, Memories and natural language search, Image Playground, Genmoji, Image Wand, and an updated Siri, and Apple has promised more in the pipeline.

The device was running iOS 18.3.1 at the time the benchmarking was done, according to the Geekbench listing. The smartphone scored 24,188 points on the Metal Score, which evaluates Apple devices’ graphics capability.

This score is, however, lower than the average GPU benchmark score of 27,669 points for the iPhone 16. At the same time, the device’s GPU score surpasses that of the A16 Bionic-powered iPhone 15 (22,767 points on the Metal Score).

Lower GPU Performance Not A Shocker

Notably, the iPhone 16e has four GPU cores, one fewer than the iPhone 16 series’ five-core GPU. Given that the iPhone 16e has one fewer GPU core, its lower Metal benchmarking score is not shocking.

The one fewer core also means that multimedia may operate a little more slowly than it does on the flagship devices of the iPhone 16 series.
