Apple To Rename Upcoming iPhone SE4 As iPhone 16e? Here’s All You Need To Know

The iPhone 16e, potentially priced between $499 to $549, will provide a new experience with significant upgrades like Face ID, Dynamic Island, and an enhanced display.

Apple is expected to rename the upcoming iPhone SE4 to the iPhone 16e, integrating key features from the iPhone 16 lineup, including a larger OLED display, a 48MP camera, and the A18 Bionic chip. In the latest rumour mill surrounding the upcoming iPhone SE 4, Apple may rename it as the iPhone 16e to better match its flagship lineup. According to a recent leak, the tech giant may be discontinuing the SE label entirely in favour of introducing the SE 4 to the iPhone 16 lineup.

The iPhone SE 4 was rumoured to make its debut in March 2025. The phone is anticipated to have a number of iPhone 16 characteristics, such as camera and display specifications.

Below are the major upgrades that Apple is rumoured to do on its most affordable phone:

Larger OLED Screen

The new device is expected to have a significantly larger 6.1-inch OLED display, whereas the previous model, the iPhone SE 2022, featured a small 4.7-inch LCD panel. The bigger display, along with the OLED screen’s sharper contrast and richer colour tones, should improve the visual quality and overall viewing experience. The iPhone SE 4 (or iPhone 16e) is also expected to have a full-screen design.

48MP Camera

According to rumours, the updated iPhone SE would include a 48MP primary camera—the only lens on the device’s rear. This would be a significant improvement over the iPhone SE 2022 model’s 12MP camera. Although extremely wide photos may not be possible, users should still be able to obtain a respectable digital zoom. The new camera set will most certainly have a night mode, which was missing in the iPhone SE 2022.

Face ID

Another significant upgrade is the switch to Face ID from the Touch ID home button, which will reduce the size of the bezels. Face ID is safer and simpler to use than Touch ID, and Apple could even add the Dynamic Island feature, which displays content in the background, in the new device.

A18 Processor

The new phone will likely be powered by the same A18 Bionic chip as the iPhone 16 series. This could make the new iPhone SE one of the fastest phones in its category. Also, it may be upgraded to 8GB RAM (from 4GB), which—along with 128GB of storage—could make it apt for AI and demanding apps.

Apple Intelligence

The device will be the most affordable from the Apple stable on which users can enjoy Apple Intelligence, the company’s version of AI. From the new Siri and Writing Tools to Image Playground and Genmoji, the new phone will be packed with a host of AI tools.

Apple’s 5G Modem

The upcoming device could be the first to use a 5G modem created in-house by Apple. A size reduction in devices will be one of the advantages of Apple utilising its own modem, although whether it will happen in the iPhone 16e remains to be seen.

Pricing

The iPhone 16e is anticipated to be the most reasonably priced iPhone with Apple’s AI capabilities, with a price range of $499 to $549 (about Rs. 42,220 to Rs. 46,500).
