IPL 2025: Updated List Of Players Who Have Been Ruled Out And Their Replacements

Shardul Thakur is the new entrant to the 18th edition of Indian Premier League as he joins Lucknow Super Giants who have been hit by slew of injuries.

The 18th edition of the IPL which started on March 22 has already seen some big names drop out of the tournament before it began. More players are now being reported to be ruled out of the tournament since it began on Saturday.

Several franchises will miss out on some important players throughout the tournament, while some are expected to miss the initial few matches. Here's a full list of players who will miss out on this year’s IPL and their replacements (if any):

Mohsin Khan (Lucknow Super Giants)

One of LSG's prime bowlers, Mohsin has been ruled out of this season due to injury. Mohsin Khan had suffered an ACL tear and was last seen in a competitive game in December 2024.

Replacement: Shardul Thakur

Umran Malik (Kolkata Knight Riders)

KKR recruit Umran Malik is out of the IPL due to an injury and his place will be taken by Chetan Sakariya. Sakariya is himself coming back from an injury, having last played during a Ranji Trophy match for Saurashtra in February 2024.

Replacement: Chetan Sakariya.

Harry Brook (Delhi Capitals)

English batter is missing out on the IPL to fulfill his national commitments. The tournament’s Governing Council has banned him for 2 years since he had opted out of last year’s IPL as well. Delhi Capitals had bought him for Rs 6.25 crore.

Brydon Carse (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

All-rounder Brydon Carse suffered a toe injury during the ICC Champions Trophy match between England and Australia. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Carse for Rs 1 crore during the auctions and are now replacing him with Wiaan Mulder. SRH has acquired Mulder for Rs 75 lakh.

Replacement: Wiaan Mulder

Allah Ghazanfar (Mumbai Indians)

The Afghanistan ace leg spinner, bought by the Mumbai Indians for Rs 4.8 crore, will miss the tournament due to a spine injury. He is being replaced by Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who has been acquired for Rs 2 crore.

Replacement: Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Lizaad Williams (Mumbai Indians)

South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to a knee injury. Mumbai Indians have signed Corbin Bosch as his replacement. Bosch is yet to make his IPL debut but had previously been a reserve player for Rajasthan Royals.

Replacement: Corbin Bosch.

Players Likely To Miss Start Of IPL

Lockie Ferguson (Punjab Kings)

New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson hurt his hamstring while playing in the UAE's International League T20 (ILT20). It ruled him out of the Champions Trophy, and he is likely to miss the IPL as well.

Akash Deep (Lucknow Super Giants)

LSG pace bowler who is facing uncertainty over his fitness is Akash Deep who is still recovering from a knee injury, and is expected to miss the team's initial three matches.

Avesh Khan (Lucknow Super Giants)

Another LSG fast bowler who is expected to miss the start of the tournament is Avesh Khan. He similar to Akash is expected to miss the team's initial few matches.

Mayank Yadav (Lucknow Super Giants)

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav will be missing the first half of IPL 2025 as he is recovering from a lumbar stress injury. He is undergoing rehab and has resumed bowling at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the initial rounds of the IPL 2025 matches for Mumbai Indians as the star pacer is still recovering from the lower back injury that rendered him out of action since January.

"His recuperation is going well. But at this stage it is better to give him some more time to return to peak fitness, considering India's Test series against England in June," a source close to the development told PTI.
