Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleged that the Congress party twisted his statement about Babasaheb Ambedkar by using a morphed video, urging the media to highlight his full statement.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday accused the Congress party of twisting his statement on Babasaheb Ambedkar by allegedly morphing a clip to create a fake video.

"My statement in Rajya Sabha was presented in a distorted manner. Earlier also, artificial intelligence was used in elections and statements presented in a distorted manner. I belong to a party that cannot insult Babasaheb," Shah told reporters in a press conference at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

"A malicious attempt has been made by showing half of my statement. We cannot insult Babasaheb's ideas even in our dreams. He contributed a lot to strengthening the foundation of democracy," the BJP leader said, asking the media to highlight his complete statement to counter Congress' "false narrative."

Amit Shah also took a jibe at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, saying he was disappointed that despite belonging to the same community to which Ambedkar belonged, the party chief has not intervened to stop Rahul Gandhi.

The home minister further said the BJP will explore all possibilities of legal action against the Congress on the matter.

Shah also listed historical incidents where the Congress allegedly disrespected Ambedkar: the leader's election defeat in the 1951 general election, denying him the 'Bharat Ratna' during the party's rule, and the lack of memorials across the country to commemorate the framer of the Constitution.

Congress and other opposition parties have protested against Shah for his "it has become the fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar..." remark in Parliament on Tuesday night. Both houses were adjourned after the ruckus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also launched an attack on the main opposition party, saying, "If the Congress and its rotten ecosystem think their malicious lies can hide their misdeeds of several years, especially their insult towards Dr. Ambedkar, they are gravely mistaken! The people of India have seen time and again how one party, led by one dynasty, has indulged in every possible dirty trick to obliterate the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar and humiliate the SC/ST communities."
